I look back to before I knew you well,
And thoughts of wonder fill my searching mind.
I want to laugh and cry and pray and yell,
For you are funny, loving, patient, kind.
What did I do without you all these years?
My life was not as rich as it is now!
God’s blessing in you brings me close to tears –
His blessings always leave me thinking, “Wow!”
You know the little things that make me laugh,
The ins and outs of what I’m going through.
My burdens shared with you are cut in half,
The joy is always multiplied by two!
You are one that I love like no other –
You really are the world’s best older brother.

I wrote this poem tonight for one of my close friends. Sometimes I find word forms are the best way to express how I feel, whether it be a poem, a song, a journal entry, or a letter.I don’t know if he will read it on here, and one day I might read it to him. But for now, I just want to say that I love you, Brownie. Thanks for being a fantastic brother.

So lately I have been looking at a bunch of different Bible study ideas and I have found 5 basic ones that I am going to try. They are:

  • Choose 1 book and read chapter-by-chapter, different versions.
  • Reading plans
  • Study guides
  • Books
  • Devotional Books

After coming up with this list, I went through and made some notes about what I would use for each study type. My list now looks like this:

  • Choose one book and read chapter-by-chapter, different versions: BOOK OF ESTHER. NIV, KJV
  • Reading plans: GUIDED TOUR OF BIBLE
  • Study guides: WOMEN OF THE OLD TESTAMENT – GLADYS HUNT
  • Books: A YOUNG WOMAN AFTER GODS’ OWN HEART – ELIZABETH GEOROGE
  • Devotional books: SISTER FREAKS – REBECCA ST. JAMES

At the moment I am working my way through Esther using the NIV. I am really enjoying this method of study, because I can go at my own pace and focus on what I see, rather than on reading what someone else sees.

Does anyone have other methods of Bible study that would be useful/innovative/fun?

Enjoy your day!

Naturally,
Laura

I will try and post fairly regularly, so I hope you all enjoy reading! Please feel free to let me know if there’s anything you feel should be changed for ease of reading, etc.

Peace out and enjoy your day.
